Number 7 Stopper

Some people like gold, some silver, and some of us like brightly anodized or beat up looking climbing stoppers. One person is offering just that. New and used climbing stoppers fashioned into appealing jewelry. Friend and fellow climber Aleya Littleton has recently discovered a knack for constructing necklaces from any piece of climbing protection she can get her hands on. Currently her line consists of various sized stoppers and Tri-cams.

When I asked Aleya what inspired her to start making climbing jewelry, she had this to say:

“The items I choose for jewelery usually have some kind of significance to me. Climbing is a huge part of my life, yet I hadn’t found a wearable icon that truly represented it. I walked into EMS and saw a giant wall of stoppers in every color and knew I’d found my inspiration. Stoppers are the foundation of every trad rack, the gear we trust our lives to, and they bear the scars of our experience. What better thing to represent what we love to do?”

Since starting this project, Aleya has been looking far and wide for retired and used stoppers, Tri-cams, and other small pieces of pro to supplement the new ones she acquires. If you feel compelled to donate retired stoppers or other gear to her, please email Aleya at Rockandsky dot com.
