5.) Hard Sun – Eddie Veddar – Into The Wild Soundtrack
Hard Sun has a special place in my heart because Into The Wild is one of my favorite films. To me, this song represents the birth of an American journey, setting out to points unknown. I often begin any westward road trip with this song.

6.) Dauðalogn – Sigur Ros – Valtari
I associate this song most closely with the emotions of wonder and excitement, especially for a new place or new adventure. Earlier this year I traveled to Iceland, and since they are from Iceland, I listed to a lot of Sigur Ros. I experienced a lot of new and overwhelming feelings while traveling around the country, and I think this travel really reminds me of how I felt. It was a great feeling and a great experience.
7.) Welcome Home, Son – Radical Face – Ghost
This is a good song to get amped up to before a journey. I first discovered this song when I saw Ueli Steck’s The Swiss Machine video where he climbs the Eiger in record breaking time. The drama of the song mixed with the epicness of Ueli’s feat really engrained this in my brain as being likened to adventure and pushing ones limits.
8.) Blue Ridge Mountains – Fleet Foxes – Fleet Foxes
The casual feeling of this song is reminiscent of a good camping trip in the backwood of appalachia. I can almost smell the campfire burning as people are sitting around it conversing about life.

9.) King of the Road – Roger Miller
This song really speaks for itself in regard to travel. It takes me back to a time when hitch hiking, and roaming the country were a common way to get by in life, In many ways, I see a lot of that coming back around. Another thing that this song brings to mind is the life and travels of the characters in Jack Kerouac’s On The Road.
10.) Post Card From 1952 – Explosions In The Sky
Though it has it uptempo and drama building moments, I think the beginning of this track really offers a calming and relaxing vibe that sometimes we need while out on the road or on a big adventure. By the time the pace picks up and the song really hits in, I feel recharged and excited about my adventure.
And there you have it folks, just a quick little list of some good tunes that at least to me, inspire travel and adventure. Do you have any suggestions on what might also fit in this list? I’d love to hear them, maybe we can make a running list of travel and adventure music.
