Colorful Colorado

Waking up at 5am is hard to do, and you know what? it's even harder to do after a few cold ones the night before. All headaches aside, I reluctantly pulled myself from that sleeping bag I called home for five hours and began to get ready. We had around a thousand miles to cover,

Eldorado Canyon

LONGMONT, Colorado – Sleeeeeeeep.  After two marathon days on the road, and alpine starts from Ohio and Missouri, we finally got to sleep in a bit.  Our phone alarms buzzed us awake at 7:00 AM.  Today’s destination - Eldorado Canyon, a must-do for any truly discerning climber. A month ago, I received a

Day 3 Wrap

ST. LOUIS, Missouri – Two and a half hours of sleep at Josh’s brought my two day total to 3.5. At 5:15 AM, I was back behind the wheel. First stop, well, coffee of course, but then after speeding across the state of Missouri, we stopped in Independence to visit the home of

Day 2 Wrap

COLUMBUS, OH – At a little after 5 AM, and on an hour of sleep, it was time to continue west.  First stop was Hoosier Hill, Indiana’s highest point.  Patrick and I parked on a dirt road next to a cornfield, got out and hiked the remaining 50 feet to the summit.  By 10 AM

St Louis Bound!

Today was a bit of a long day. We were up and on the road by 5:45am. After departing Columbus, Ohio we headed to our first stop, the highest point in all of Indiana, Hoosier hill. Situated in a small grove of deciduous trees just off of Elliot road, Hoosier hill is not much of a hike.

Help! I Need A Sleeping Bag

By: Patrick Gensel Just like you shouldn't TP your neighbors house without concealing your identity, you shouldn't go camping without an adequate sleeping bag. The problem is that if, like many, you are new to the whole outdoor scene, combing through the mountains of options available might be harrowing at best. Options such as down,
