We were only on day two of our nine day adventure around Iceland, and we had already seen a whole new world of exciting sights. The Westfjords offered us a look at Iceland that most visitors do not see due to its remote location off the beaten path of the Ring Road.

After spending a chilly night camping near the town of Ísafjörður, we set out for Látrabjarg to visit the stunning thousand foot sea cliffs that the Westfjords are famous for.  On our way there we came to this intersection which had the first sign for Reykjavik that we had seen in quite some time. It reminded us how far we had travelled from Iceland’s capitol city and how far off the beaten path we really were. There were very few settlements in this region, most of which only consisted of a few buildings. I had never felt so detached, it was great!
