So as I have mentioned before, I am heading down to Austin Texas tomorrow, I am pretty much all set, and hav everything packed. Typically I pack what I need a few days in advance so I don’t forget anything important, but I have a friend who likes to do EVERYTHING only a few hours before departure. What are your thoughts? Do you like to pack well in advance, or do you take it right down to the wire? Let me know on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, or the comments below.

Daily Photo – Half Arch

After our attempts at doing some rock climbing in Illinois were thwarted by the rain, we made our way to St Louis. This had been my first visit to St Louis, so of course, I was itching to visit the Jefferson Expansion National Historic Site and see Gateway Arch.

We arrived at the Arch to blue skies and warm weather, so we began to wander. The arch was such a beautiful and gravity defying structure, it captivated my attention as I searched for the best way to capture it with my camera. I moved around from angle to angle, unable to settle on any one view of the structure. This capture is just one of the several shots that I called my  “favorite”.

With the sun setting, we headed into the arch to purchase a ride to the top. To our dismay we had found out that we spent too much time admiring the arch and missed the last ride to the top for the evening. We had no other option but to head  into the city and drown our sorrows in food and beer.
