Daily Photo – They Lit A Fire In Salt Lake City

Back in August, I traveled around the United States a great deal, spending the better part of 5 weeks on the road just exploring the country. I really kicked off this adventure the first week of August when I arrived in Salt Lake City for the Summer Outdoor Retailer Expo. The weather was warm, they sky was big, and the whole city was buzzing with people who I could easily associate with. I have to say, it was a pretty perfect introduction to Utah for me. After settling into our room for the night, the crew and I headed out to get a bite to eat. Within minutes of leaving the room, I knew I had to spend a few minutes taking some photographs.

Light is an amazing thing, A brilliant blue sky can transform into a spectacular burning red fire in moments. Clouds can add such contrast when thrown into the mix. Silhouettes are created from anything and everythng in this late afternoon light’s path.  This may have been the most fiery red sunset I have ever seen, at least that I can remember. The perfect combination of clouds and postion of the sun just lit the sky up like an erupting volcano. I stood there for 20 minutes photographing and taking it in until it faded. Not a bad deal for the middle of a city.

Oh, and if you like mexican food and get a chance, check out Taqueria El Rey De Oros, their burritos are epic!
