By: Patrick Gensel Jordanelle State Park, Just outside of Heber, UT was bustling with activity on Tuesday August 3rd. The lake served as the centerpiece for the event. Paddle boards, Kayaks and more littered the water. It seems that the most popular activity was SUP, or Stand Up Paddle. For those not familiar, SUP has you stand on a surfboard of sorts, propelling yourself with a single paddle. I got a chance to get out there and try out a board by Bic Sports. I must say that these things are much more stable then I imagined. Though not an adrenaline inducing activity, Stand Up Paddling provides a fun and relaxing way to get out on the water. Other vendors such as Scott and Diamondback were present demoing some of their latest and greatest bikes which added a bit of variety to the saturation of paddle sports vendors. GoPro even dropped in, quite literally. Complete with colored smoke trails, Sky divers dropped in one by one with Go Pro printed Parachutes and the popular wearable camera attached to there helmets. The Open Air demo had a little bit of something for everyone. After about five hours of wandering around the park talking to brands and playing with cool gear we were beat. It was time to make the 45 minute drive down to Salt Lake City and get for the days to come. It’s Outdoor Retailer time.
